In These Mountains…

This project is supported by

the North Carolina Arts Council

A division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources www.NCArts.org

In These Mountains supports 12-month apprenticeships in the folk and traditional arts of the many cultural communities within North Carolina’s Appalachian Regional Commission counties. In 2019, 2020, and 2021, the apprenticeship program will focus on the traditional folk arts and culture of North Carolina’s Appalachian communities as part of the three-year In These Mountains project. Applications are reviewed by a panel, and two mentor/apprentice pairings are selected each year.

GUESS WHAT?! My mother, Sheila Kay Adams, and I were one of the applicants to receive the 2020 grant!

Welcome to our 12 month journey into the folk art of BALLAD SINGING!

Thank you NCAC, South Arts, and the Cargill Foundation for this AMAZING opportunity!
